About me
-
I am an anthropologist with expertise in the study of Ukraine, the former Soviet Union, memory, storytelling, digital ethnography and TikTok.
RAI Public Anthropology Fellow 2022-23.
My work focuses on themes of memory, storytelling, revolution, hope, race, gender and the digital world.
-
My doctoral research, “And that’s how it was”: Small stories of big histories in post-Soviet Ukraine, explored intergenerational memory, storytelling, history and the future in L’viv, Ukraine using methods such as oral history and walking to explore how history is present in urban and forested landscapes.
My current research takes the form of the TikTok Ethnography Collective which I co-founded in September 2020. This project centres collaborative methods to engage ethnographically with the micro-blogging platform TikTok, and actively engages with the pedagogical possibilities presented by collaborative research.
I held the position of Fellow in Public Anthropology at the Royal Anthropological Institute from 2022-23.
